KIT LIST

Over the past few years, we have acquired the majority of our kit, having done a number of walks with our kit to identify what works and what doesn't.

We appreciate that it is likely we will want to change something once we are on the trail however we have a good starting point.

Reducing our base weight has been a key priority for us however we will not compromise on essential pieces that will give us comfort. After all 6 months is a long time to live with these items.

Our big-ticket items include:

  • TENT- Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL 3

  • BACKPACK - Gossamer Gear Mariposa 60, Gregory Optal 55

  • SLEEPING BAG - Rab Mythic 400

  • SLEEPING PAD - Big Agnes Q Core SLX

  • DOWN JACKET - Rab Microlight Alpine Jacket

  • SHOES - Topo Ultradventure

Being a little nerdy one rainy Saturday we sat and weighed every single piece of kit ... yes very nerdy! From doing this we could appreciate how much things actually weighed (sounds daft I know!), looking for alternatives or asking ourselves could we do without it.

There are items that we will have to buy/ hire in America including crampons, ice axe, and a bear box, for example, however these items will only be required in certain sections of the trail.

We have used lighterpack.com to consolidate a list of all of our kit along with the weight. The list is not yet complete and no doubt things will change, however click on the links below to find out what we have so far.
