What should have been!

Updated: May 4, 2020

21st April 2020 should have been the day that we set out on our PCT adventure until Coronavirus had other ideas!

It has been very difficult to come to terms with the fact that we will not get the opportunity this year to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, after all we have been planning this trip for over 18 months. It has made us realise just how much a career break means to us, not just the hike but also the time away from our daily routine.

That being said, moments like this make us feel grateful for the things we do have. We are both very fortunate to still have jobs, a home, good health, our fur baby Poppy and our friends and family that we love dearly.

We have our sights set on 2021 ... all being well!

We are also all too aware that the number of people applying to hike next year will be higher than average therefore we will be looking to have back up plans in place.

Plan A - Pacific Crest Trail

Plan B - Appalachian Trail

Plan C - multiple smaller trails

.. the plans continue!

There are so many fantastic walks we want to do, you could say we are spoilt for choice! Check out our bucket list on the website.

Want to know what I would take on a long distance hike ... check out our latest video.

At the moment the best we have is our daily walk/ run in our local area (whilst in adherence to Government social distancing guidelines ... of course!), it is the highlight of my day!

We are all wishing and hoping that the situation gets under control and the restrictions in place can be lifted. Which will mean that we can enjoy one of the trials in the UK/ Europe later in the year.

Stay safe!

Shame about the PCT and I feel your pain, if your unable to get on it next year and you need a back up trail have a look at the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, North Carolina. can fully recommend it
